Why choose a linen duvet cover?

Comfort, practicality, and elegance are key criteria when it comes to choosing your bed linen. Whether you wish to decorate your own bedroom or a guest room, linen is a first-rate fabric for enjoying restful nights . More environmentally friendly than cotton duvet covers, our designs are hand-sewn in France . This traditional process gives them impeccable quality and a longer lifespan. Easy to care for , linen offers an unrivalled feel… You will enjoy wrapping yourself comfortably in your duvet cover every evening. All Embrin duvet covers also carry the OEKO-TEX® label : this means that no substances known to be harmful to health have been used in their making. Did you know that linen is naturally thermoregulating ? During cold winter nights, it helps to keep your body warm. Conversely, it has a cooling effect during hot summer spells. You will therefore feel perfectly comfortable in your bed, without waking up in the middle of the night. Furthermore, washed linen is still relatively rare among bed linen ranges. With an Embrin duvet cover, you can easily add a touch of originality to your bedroom . Its crumpled look stands out and is a reminder of ancestral craftsmanship , to which we are particularly attached.

Are linen duvet covers anti-dust mite and anti-bacterial?

Here is another lesser-known virtue of linen: this remarkable fabric has antibacterial properties . The very structure of the plant prevents dust mites and other bacteria from clinging to it. Thanks to its quick drying after machine washing, the risk of bacteria settling on your duvet cover is greatly reduced. This is reassuring for anyone who suffers from allergies on a daily basis.

How do you remove a stain from a linen duvet cover?

It is entirely possible to remove a stain from a linen duvet cover . By acting quickly and following these simple tips , the fabric will retain its original appearance. To remove blood stains , simply rinse the stain with cold water: it will disappear after just one wash in the machine. A coffee stain can be removed by pouring a little lemon juice or white vinegar on it and rubbing vigorously. After a machine wash, your duvet cover will be spotless. For more information, feel free to refer to our care guide for linen bed linen .

How should you wash a linen duvet cover for the first time?

To help set the colour of your duvet cover and make it even softer, we have a very simple tip to share... When your duvet cover arrives at home, soak it in a basin of cold water with 25 cl of white vinegar . Leave it to soak overnight: you can then wash your cover in the machine at 40°C , choosing a gentle spin cycle (maximum 800 rpm). By following this tip, your linen duvet cover will retain its colour for many years and will be particularly soft , for lasting comfort.

How should you wash a linen duvet cover for everyday care?

As well as being particularly elegant, linen is very easy to care for . Simply machine wash your duvet cover at 40°C to 60°C . If you want to look after the linen fibres, a few precautions are recommended: do not overload your drum and wash colours separately . This helps prevent any risk of washing mishaps or colour bleeding. Linen household linen does not require chlorine, bleach, fabric softeners or whitening agents. As for detergent, the choice is yours, although we do prefer gentle and eco-friendly detergents . Finally, you can choose to air dry or use a tumble dryer . By selecting the “delicate” or “ready to iron” programme, the fabric becomes even softer. All you need to do is remove your duvet cover as soon as the cycle ends for a naturally crumpled effect . By following these simple washing tips, your linen duvet cover will become even softer over time, helping you enjoy restful nights with complete peace of mind.

Should you iron a linen duvet cover?

At Embrin, we are particularly fond of the beautiful crumpled look of linen , which is instantly recognisable. To enjoy it every day, you can choose not to iron your linen duvet cover. Simply let it dry after machine washing , then store it in your cupboard or put it straight on your bed. You can also iron your linen duvet cover . For this, it is best to do so on the reverse side to avoid damaging the fabric. If you have a steam generator iron, a special linen programme can also be very useful. In any case, we recommend not exceeding 200°C when ironing your linen duvet cover, as this could weaken it.

How long can you keep a linen duvet cover?

By following these care tips, you can keep your linen duvet cover for many years to come . There is no need to buy a new set of sheets at the first sign of wear: our designs are highly durable . Have you been won over by all the qualities of linen? You can choose several duvet cover colours to vary your bedroom decor with the seasons and change the atmosphere whenever you wish.

What size linen duvet cover should I choose?

It can sometimes be confusing to navigate the different duvet cover sizes … To be sure you make the right choice, simply remember that the size of the duvet cover matches the size of your duvet. Embrin offers 5 sizes for all its models: 140 x 200 cm, 200 x 200 cm, 240 x 220 cm, 260 x 240 cm and 280 x 240 cm . A single bed measuring 90 x 190 cm corresponds to a 140 x 200 cm cover. A single bed measuring 120 x 190 or 200 cm requires a 200 x 200 cm cover. If you have a double bed measuring 140 x 190 or 200 cm at home, choose a 200 x 200 cm duvet cover for a shorter drop, or 240 x 220 cm for a longer drop. If your bed is a “queen size” model (160 x 200 cm) , choose a duvet cover of 240 x 220 cm or 260 x 240 cm. Finally, for larger beds known as “king size” (180 or 200 x 200 cm), we recommend a 260 x 240 cm cover for a shorter drop, or 280 x 240 cm for a longer drop.

Is it possible to have a made-to-measure linen duvet cover?

If you haven’t found what you’re looking for among our various sizes, don’t worry. Embrin also offers made-to-measure linen duvet covers . Sizes, colours… Your duvet cover will be unique, for a truly original result that reflects your own interior. To do this, start by choosing your preferred colour. Several sizes are available, as well as the “made-to-measure” option . By clicking on it, simply enter your desired measurements in the dedicated fields.

How much does a linen duvet cover weigh?

Our 100% washed linen duvet covers have a weight of 180 g/m² . They are therefore very lightweight, while remaining highly durable. In fact, there are no fewer than 43 threads per cm² . Once stored, your linen duvet cover will take up very little space in your cupboards.

Which bedding set should you choose with a linen duvet cover?

Good news: at Embrin, our bed linen gives pride of place to Normandy linen. On our website, you will find a wide selection of valances, fitted sheets, flat sheets, pillowcases , and even bolster cases . We know that every bedroom is unique: that's why we offer several sizes and colours . You are free to choose the model that suits you, to opt for matching shades, or on the contrary, to mix and match them to bring a touch of originality to your home.

Which colour should you choose for a linen duvet cover?

The choice of colours plays a key role in bedroom decoration . It has even been shown that they can influence our sleep… Light shades , such as our Bleu Pluie colour, wrap your bedroom in a soothing atmosphere to help you drift off to sleep. If you would like to brighten up your interior, opt for warm tones instead. The Rouge Figue colour, for example, brings a warm feel to the bedroom and pairs very well with wooden furniture. Two-tone designs are also available on our website. You will find a wide range of shades among our duvet cover collection : let your creativity guide you.

Is a linen duvet cover environmentally friendly?

Yes, and we are particularly proud of it! Embrin duvet covers are made from linen, a plant that requires very little water. The linen we use thrives with minimal resources in the fields of Normandy: without fertilisers and by absorbing a significant amount of CO2, it helps to protect the environment. Our partner Terre de Lin also uses a mechanical harvesting technique , without any chemicals. In a zero-waste approach, every part of the plant is used. That’s not all: once the fabric arrives at the Embrin workshops, it is entrusted to our seamstresses to create unique duvet covers, hand-sewn . What’s more, our linen duvet covers are particularly hard-wearing. You can therefore keep them for a very long time , avoiding repeated purchases.

Where are Embrin linen duvet covers made?

All our washed linen duvet covers are designed in the workshop at the Embrin family farm . In the heart of Seine-Maritime , our seamstresses work with dedication, surrounded by fields of Normandy flax. The linen we use for our duvet covers is traditionally grown in Normandy . Our local partner, Terre de Lin , then takes over, harvesting it with respect for the environment. The spinning stage takes place in Europe, as there are currently no linen spinning mills in France. Once transformed, the linen returns to our workshops to be sewn to order . Each Embrin duvet cover is unique, ensuring a high-quality French product .

Washed linen duvet cover in Horizon Blue

Evoking a clear summer sky and the horizon where sea meets sky, the Horizon shade bathes the bed in gentle light. This sky blue, fresh and calming, highlights the natural texture of washed linen and creates a restful atmosphere.

Paired with materials such as light wood, natural linen or shades of white like our Chalk White pillowcases, it creates an elegant bedroom in all its simplicity.

Made from 100% washed linen, this duvet cover showcases an exceptional fabric, valued for its comfort. Naturally thermoregulating, linen adapts to the seasons by providing a pleasant feeling of freshness in summer and retaining warmth when temperatures drop. Our linen is grown in Normandy, a region renowned for the quality of its fibre. Each duvet cover is then made in our workshop in Seine-Maritime by our seamstresses, whose expertise and attention to detail result in bed linen designed to last.

Our duvet covers feature a bottle-style closure, making it easy to tuck them under the mattress for a neat hold, night after night.

Available in several sizes, including made-to-measure, they pair naturally with our fitted sheets, flat sheets and pillowcases in washed linen to create a harmonious set.

When I received my order I immediately saw that everything was perfect: high quality parcel, careful inside, delicate presentation of the linen and of course impeccable quality and making. Fully deserved compliments, which make one proud to have such a French company. Well done to everyone (especially to Hélène)

Quite simply perfect! Quality and making of course, but also: attention, kindness, taking into account the slightest request, punctuality. I really appreciated the spirit of this company, well done!

For over a year we have been using Embrin products, bath towel, pillowcase, fitted sheet, duvet cover, napkin. The quality of the products is really appreciable. (The products become softer and softer after each wash.) The parcels are carefully packed, the team's responsiveness is great. We can only recommend Embrin, a fine French company!

Linen sheets grown, spun, woven and sewn within a small area. Thick, strong fabric with a beautiful colour, which arrives very nicely packaged with the name of the seamstress for even more personalisation and traceability. A rare but so precious company nowadays.

I am finally taking the time to thank Hélène and the seamstresses at the farm who managed to make and send me 3 beautiful raw linen tablecloths for our wedding table in record time! French making with excellent value for money, which can be proud of itself for the great quality of its linen. Not to mention the made-to-measure design, the kindness and attentiveness to find a solution during the holiday period! In short, I highly recommend!

We have been loyal for several years. Sleeping in linen is really most pleasant. Butterfly sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, everything is perfect and their linen weaving does not wear out like the usual sheets you find in shops. Also, the welcome is warm, it is a pity they are so far from us to visit them.

Very beautiful covers with nice finishing. The order went really well! The team always answered my questions quickly and clearly. The colour of the sheets is even more beautiful than in the photos. I followed the care guide to the letter with the steps before first use. Really all good and well thought out!

Thank you again for your magnificent products, very well made. Third order with you, the quality is always there. Of course it is an investment but at least everything is made in France! Colour that matches perfectly with the honey colour!
