Products
What guarantee do I have regarding the quality of these products?
Embrin products are made with carefully selected linen, chosen for its quality. The flax is pulled, retted, scutched and combed in Normandy at the local Terre de Lin cooperative, following a traditional and well-established expertise. Weaving takes place in Europe, as unfortunately there are no longer any linen spinning mills in France.
All Embrin partners are chosen according to specific criteria. Quality, ethics, and ecology are never left to chance, in order to offer you the best possible products. These are made using rigorous and highly precise processes. They are designed to last!
Finally, all Embrin products are Oeko-Tex certified, a trusted label that guarantees the absence of harmful chemicals for both skin and the environment.
Buying from Embrin means ensuring the quality, durability and traceability of your chosen products. If you have any further questions about them, please do not hesitate to contact us!
How does Embrin make its products?
All Embrin products are made from high-quality Normandy linen. This linen is grown using traditional methods and with respect for nature. It is mechanically pulled and retted according to a regional expertise renowned worldwide.
Once the linen is harvested, it is processed at the local Terre de Lin cooperative, our partner. Only the longest and strongest fibres are selected to create your bed linen or curtains. These fibres are combed and then wet-spun to give them greater strength.
Finally, the linen is transformed into very strong yarns which allow us to make your pillowcases, aprons or linen duvet covers. These are dyed using products that are harmless to both skin and the environment, in accordance with REACH regulations.
Throughout the making process, no hazardous chemicals are used. Quality, expertise and ethics guide all our decisions.
What should I do if I want to return a product?
Have you chosen the wrong colour for your duvet cover? Are the dimensions not suitable? Don’t worry: you are entitled to change your mind! On Embrin, you have 14 days to let us know that you wish to return a product.
Similarly, if you have received a damaged parcel or if your washed linen curtains have a defect, we will refund or exchange them. In this case, the return costs are, of course, covered by us. However, if the error is on your part, you will need to cover these costs yourself.

Our linen tablecloths
What size linen tablecloth should you choose? For how many people?
The size of your linen tablecloth will depend on its shape and dimensions. For an elegant drape, we recommend choosing one that is approximately 60 cm wider than your table. This way, attractive 30 cm borders will fall on each side.
Not sure about the dimensions of your tablecloth? In that case, rely on the number of people it can seat, bearing in mind that you should allow around 60 cm of width per place setting to ensure everyone is comfortable.
For a table seating 4 to 6 people, opt for a 175 x 175 cm tablecloth.
If you are 8 to 10 at the table, choose a 175 x 250 cm tablecloth.
If the tablecloth is intended for 10 to 12 people, a 175 x 350 cm tablecloth should be just right.
How should you wash a linen tablecloth for the first time?
Before washing your linen tablecloth for the first time, there is a simple tip to help set its lovely colours and make it softer. To do this, soak your tablecloth in a basin of cold water with 25 cl of white vinegar added.
Leave it overnight to allow the mixture to work, then wash your tablecloth in the washing machine at 40°C, followed by a gentle spin cycle at a maximum of 800 revolutions per minute. This way, your tablecloth will remain beautiful and supple for longer, while helping to prevent its colours from running.
How should you wash a linen tablecloth for everyday use?
Forget the common misconception that linen is difficult to care for: this is not the case. To restore freshness to your linen tablecloth, simply give it a wash in the machine at 40°C to 60°C to avoid damaging its fibres.
To look after your linen tablecloth properly, make sure not to overload the drum and sort colours carefully to prevent any discolouration accidents. Please note, it is essential not to use detergent containing chlorine, bleach, or whitening agents, as these may damage the linen fibres. We recommend using a gentle and environmentally friendly detergent.
Should a linen tablecloth be ironed?
Linen has that lovely naturally crumpled look which gives it its unique charm. For this reason, it is not always necessary to iron your linen tablecloth. For an authentic and natural effect, simply let it dry, then store it as it is or place it directly on your table.
If you would like to give it a more classic style, you can of course iron your linen tablecloth. We recommend doing so on the reverse side or using the linen setting on a steam generator iron. However, make sure never to iron your linen tablecloth at more than 200°C to avoid damaging it.
How do you remove stains from a linen tablecloth?
Have you just stained your beautiful linen tablecloth? Don't worry: due to the structure of linen fibres, they are rarely permanently damaged. The methods for removing stains vary depending on their nature:
- For coffee stains, simply use a stain-removing soap.
- For tea stains, a mixture of 90°C alcohol and white vinegar is very effective.
- For butter stains (or margarine), you can dab the linen tablecloth several times with a little diluted washing-up liquid.
Find more tips for removing stains from a linen tablecloth in our dedicated guide to caring for linen household textiles. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Does a linen tablecloth lose its colour over the years?
Due to the structure and composition of its fibres, linen is a fabric that absorbs and enhances colours like no other. There is no need for chemical dyes or toxic products to fix its pigments. At Embrin, we use gentle, nature-friendly dyes for your linen tablecloths.
If you care for your tablecloth properly, it can retain its beautiful colour for years and will not bleed onto your other clothes. If you need advice, feel free to consult our linen tablecloth care guide.
Is it possible to have a made-to-measure linen tablecloth?
Would you like to treat yourself to a tablecloth that truly suits you and fits your table perfectly? Good news: Embrin offers to make your beautiful linen tablecloths to your made-to-measure dimensions, available in every range. These tablecloths are ideal if you have a table with an unusual shape, or if you simply cannot find the size you need among those we offer.
How can you take advantage of this? After selecting the colour of your tablecloth, you can choose from several sizes. At the end of these, a small rectangle with the “made-to-measure” label will appear. Click on it and simply enter your desired dimensions in the fields provided. Order online and our seamstresses will make your tablecloth within 48 to 72 hours, so you can receive it quickly.
Where are Embrin linen tablecloths made?
Embrin linen tablecloths are designed and made in the workshop of our family farm, nestled within old brick and flint barns covering 400 m² in Ambrumesnil, a small village in Seine-Maritime (Normandy). Here, the hands of our artisans and seamstresses work with care and passion to create your linen tablecloths, drawing on craftsmanship passed down through generations.
The linen used to make your tablecloth comes from the fields of our beautiful Normandy. It is then harvested and processed by our local partner: Terre de Lin. Unfortunately, there are no longer any linen spinning mills on French soil. We therefore send it to Europe (not Asia, as is the case 80% of the time), to our spinning partners Linificio and Safilin, before bringing it back to our workshops.
Are linen tablecloths environmentally friendly?
Our linen tablecloths are made from one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics on the market. The plants used for their making are grown in the fields of Normandy, including on the Embrin family farm, in a way that respects the environment. Linen cultivation requires very little water and absorbs a significant amount of CO2.
The linen is then harvested and processed mechanically by our partner Terre de Lin, without the use of any chemicals. During processing, every part of the plant is put to use: linen produces no waste at all.
Once in our workshops, your linen tablecloths are cut and then handmade by experienced seamstresses, following traditional expertise. As a result, your tablecloths are highly durable and will not need to be replaced every year, helping to avoid waste. Linen is also a biodegradable fibre.
Which colour should I choose for my linen tablecloth?
Embrin offers you a wide range of colours, from the lightest to the deepest, from the most understated to the most vibrant. How should you choose the colour of your linen tablecloth? It all depends on your preferences, but also on the style and colours of your interior decor.
For perfect harmony in your dining room, choose a colour that matches your walls. If your walls are white, let your imagination run free while ensuring your choice remains in harmony with your decor or tableware. However, if your walls are already coloured, opt for more neutral shades, such as natural linen, grey, white, or pastel colours.
Feel free to combine certain colours: yellow and orange bring a summery and warm touch, while yellow and blue-green create a stylish and contrasting combination that will add a modern touch to your interior.
If you find your dining room a little small, choose a light-coloured linen tablecloth. Light colours create a sense of space, as well as precious light that will bring warmth to your room.
Are Embrin linen tablecloths antibacterial?
Do you suffer from a dust mite allergy? Rest assured: linen is a fabric with well-known antibacterial and anti-allergenic properties. Once woven, this plant has a particularly unique structure that makes it very difficult for dust mites and bacteria to settle.
When damp, linen is a fabric that dries very quickly. This means bacteria do not have time to develop. Your home is healthier, and you experience fewer allergies.
Which napkins should I pair with my Embrin linen tablecloth?
For a successful tablecloth and napkin combination, you need to consider both colours and textures. The simplest solution? Choose linen napkins in the same colour as your tablecloth.
For a more original and contrasting effect, opt for napkins in a different colour from your tablecloth. For example, blue and green pair very well with yellow. In general, complementary colours—those that are directly opposite each other on the colour wheel—work best together.
As for materials, you can choose cotton napkins, or stick with linen for a more authentic and harmonious look: simply let your imagination guide you.
On what occasions should you use a linen tablecloth?
Are you welcoming friends, family or colleagues for a friendly lunch in a small group? A linen tablecloth brings a natural and authentic touch to your interior décor. Your guests will feel at ease, as if they were at home. If you run a guest house or a small restaurant, a linen tablecloth will add a personal and warm note to the decoration.
The washed linen tablecloth is also suitable for special occasions. Birthday, wedding, family gathering, Christmas meal, seminar… Linen brings a refined touch and contributes to the success of your event. If you need large tablecloths for your receptions, feel free to contact us or order directly on our website: we will create your made-to-measure items!
As you can see, the linen tablecloth is versatile and suits every occasion and atmosphere, from the most intimate to the most formal.
Why choose an Embrin linen tablecloth?
When you choose an Embrin tablecloth, you are not just purchasing a new product; you are also supporting a craftsmanship that spans several generations, as well as made in France, Normandy agriculture, and ecology.
Embrin was created and is run by a family of flax producers for 4 generations. It is in the heart of the family flax fields that Embrin imagines and creates each day the products in its collections. Embrin linen tablecloths are made in the traditional way, with great care. The making is artisan, local, eco-friendly, and follows a zero waste approach.
Our beautiful linen tablecloths are certified by Oeko-Tex, Masters of Linen, European Flax®, and France Terre Textile. These labels guarantee quality, as well as safety for both skin and nature, all available in a wide range of colours and made-to-measure sizes.
How long can I keep an Embrin linen tablecloth?
If you care for it properly, your linen tablecloth can accompany all your meals for many years. Thanks to their structure, linen fibres are among the strongest in the plant kingdom. They withstand humidity, do not absorb stains, and their colour remains unchanged over time.
Linen is a timeless fabric that never goes out of style. It has been used for centuries and will continue to be: it is not affected by fast fashion. This means you can keep your linen table linen for many seasons without it ever looking outdated.
What table decoration with an Embrin linen tablecloth?
With our lovely linen tablecloths, you have plenty of choice for your table decoration. If you want to impress your guests, avoid overloading your table: details will be more appreciated if they are not too numerous.
For a romantic and warm style, decorate your linen tablecloth with placemats and unscented candles, so as not to interfere with the flavour of your dishes. Add a few dried flowers, flower petals, beautiful linen napkins and that’s all you need. Whether your tablecloth is square or round, it will have just the right effect!
For a natural and authentic look, feel free to decorate your table with pretty pieces of driftwood and matching napkin rings. As trivets, slices of cut tree trunk will make an impression on your guests. Shells, dried fruit, gourds, pine cones… Take inspiration from what nature has to offer to decorate and enhance your washed linen tablecloth.
How much does a linen tablecloth weigh?
Embrin washed linen tablecloths have a weight of 180 g/m². This makes them a lightweight fabric that is not fragile and stays in place once on your dining table. If you have any further questions about our collections or our linen tablecloths, please feel free to contact us.
Our linen duvet covers
Why choose a linen duvet cover?
Comfort, practicality, and elegance are key criteria when it comes to choosing your bed linen. Whether you wish to decorate your own bedroom or a guest room, linen is a first-rate fabric for enjoying restful nights.
More environmentally friendly than cotton duvet covers, our designs are hand-sewn in France. This traditional process gives them impeccable quality and a longer lifespan. Easy to care for, linen offers an unrivalled feel… You will enjoy wrapping yourself comfortably in your duvet cover every evening.
All Embrin duvet covers also carry the OEKO-TEX® label: this means that no substances known to be harmful to health have been used in their making. Did you know that linen is naturally thermoregulating? During cold winter nights, it helps to keep your body warm. Conversely, it has a cooling effect during hot summer spells. You will therefore feel perfectly comfortable in your bed, without waking up in the middle of the night.
Furthermore, washed linen is still relatively rare among bed linen ranges. With an Embrin duvet cover, you can easily add a touch of originality to your bedroom. Its crumpled look stands out and is a reminder of ancestral craftsmanship, to which we are particularly attached.
Are linen duvet covers anti-dust mite and anti-bacterial?
Here is another lesser-known virtue of linen: this remarkable fabric has antibacterial properties. The very structure of the plant prevents dust mites and other bacteria from clinging to it.
Thanks to its quick drying after machine washing, the risk of bacteria settling on your duvet cover is greatly reduced. This is reassuring for anyone who suffers from allergies on a daily basis.
How do you remove a stain from a linen duvet cover?
It is entirely possible to remove a stain from a linen duvet cover. By acting quickly and following these simple tips, the fabric will retain its original appearance.
To remove blood stains, simply rinse the stain with cold water: it will disappear after just one wash in the machine. A coffee stain can be removed by pouring a little lemon juice or white vinegar on it and rubbing vigorously. After a machine wash, your duvet cover will be spotless.
For more information, feel free to refer to our care guide for linen bed linen.
How should you wash a linen duvet cover for the first time?
To help set the colour of your duvet cover and make it even softer, we have a very simple tip to share... When your duvet cover arrives at home, soak it in a basin of cold water with 25 cl of white vinegar.
Leave it to soak overnight: you can then wash your cover in the machine at 40°C, choosing a gentle spin cycle (maximum 800 rpm). By following this tip, your linen duvet cover will retain its colour for many years and will be particularly soft, for lasting comfort.
How should you wash a linen duvet cover for everyday care?
As well as being particularly elegant, linen is very easy to care for. Simply machine wash your duvet cover at 40°C to 60°C.
If you want to look after the linen fibres, a few precautions are recommended: do not overload your drum and wash colours separately. This helps prevent any risk of washing mishaps or colour bleeding.
Linen household linen does not require chlorine, bleach, fabric softeners or whitening agents. As for detergent, the choice is yours, although we do prefer gentle and eco-friendly detergents.
Finally, you can choose to air dry or use a tumble dryer. By selecting the “delicate” or “ready to iron” programme, the fabric becomes even softer. All you need to do is remove your duvet cover as soon as the cycle ends for a naturally crumpled effect.
By following these simple washing tips, your linen duvet cover will become even softer over time, helping you enjoy restful nights with complete peace of mind.
Should you iron a linen duvet cover?
At Embrin, we are particularly fond of the beautiful crumpled look of linen, which is instantly recognisable. To enjoy it every day, you can choose not to iron your linen duvet cover. Simply let it dry after machine washing, then store it in your cupboard or put it straight on your bed.
You can also iron your linen duvet cover. For this, it is best to do so on the reverse side to avoid damaging the fabric. If you have a steam generator iron, a special linen programme can also be very useful. In any case, we recommend not exceeding 200°C when ironing your linen duvet cover, as this could weaken it.
How long can you keep a linen duvet cover?
By following these care tips, you can keep your linen duvet cover for many years to come. There is no need to buy a new set of sheets at the first sign of wear: our designs are highly durable.
Have you been won over by all the qualities of linen? You can choose several duvet cover colours to vary your bedroom decor with the seasons and change the atmosphere whenever you wish.
What size linen duvet cover should I choose?
It can sometimes be confusing to navigate the different duvet cover sizes… To be sure you make the right choice, simply remember that the size of the duvet cover matches the size of your duvet.
Embrin offers 5 sizes for all its models: 140 x 200 cm, 200 x 200 cm, 240 x 220 cm, 260 x 240 cm and 280 x 240 cm.
A single bed measuring 90 x 190 cm corresponds to a 140 x 200 cm cover. A single bed measuring 120 x 190 or 200 cm requires a 200 x 200 cm cover.
If you have a double bed measuring 140 x 190 or 200 cm at home, choose a 200 x 200 cm duvet cover for a shorter drop, or 240 x 220 cm for a longer drop.
If your bed is a “queen size” model (160 x 200 cm), choose a duvet cover of 240 x 220 cm or 260 x 240 cm. Finally, for larger beds known as “king size” (180 or 200 x 200 cm), we recommend a 260 x 240 cm cover for a shorter drop, or 280 x 240 cm for a longer drop.
Is it possible to have a made-to-measure linen duvet cover?
If you haven’t found what you’re looking for among our various sizes, don’t worry. Embrin also offers made-to-measure linen duvet covers. Sizes, colours… Your duvet cover will be unique, for a truly original result that reflects your own interior.
To do this, start by choosing your preferred colour. Several sizes are available, as well as the “made-to-measure” option. By clicking on it, simply enter your desired measurements in the dedicated fields.
How much does a linen duvet cover weigh?
Our 100% washed linen duvet covers have a weight of 180 g/m². They are therefore very lightweight, while remaining highly durable. In fact, there are no fewer than 43 threads per cm². Once stored, your linen duvet cover will take up very little space in your cupboards.
Which bedding set should you choose with a linen duvet cover?
Good news: at Embrin, our bed linen gives pride of place to Normandy linen. On our website, you will find a wide selection of valances, fitted sheets, flat sheets, pillowcases, and even bolster cases.
We know that every bedroom is unique: that's why we offer several sizes and colours. You are free to choose the model that suits you, to opt for matching shades, or on the contrary, to mix and match them to bring a touch of originality to your home.
Which colour should you choose for a linen duvet cover?
The choice of colours plays a key role in bedroom decoration. It has even been shown that they can influence our sleep… Light shades, such as our Bleu Pluie colour, wrap your bedroom in a soothing atmosphere to help you drift off to sleep.
If you would like to brighten up your interior, opt for warm tones instead. The Rouge Figue colour, for example, brings a warm feel to the bedroom and pairs very well with wooden furniture. Two-tone designs are also available on our website. You will find a wide range of shades among our duvet cover collection: let your creativity guide you.
Is a linen duvet cover environmentally friendly?
Yes, and we are particularly proud of it! Embrin duvet covers are made from linen, a plant that requires very little water. The linen we use thrives with minimal resources in the fields of Normandy: without fertilisers and by absorbing a significant amount of CO2, it helps to protect the environment.
Our partner Terre de Lin also uses a mechanical harvesting technique, without any chemicals. In a zero-waste approach, every part of the plant is used.
That’s not all: once the fabric arrives at the Embrin workshops, it is entrusted to our seamstresses to create unique duvet covers, hand-sewn. What’s more, our linen duvet covers are particularly hard-wearing. You can therefore keep them for a very long time, avoiding repeated purchases.
Where are Embrin linen duvet covers made?
All our washed linen duvet covers are designed in the workshop at the Embrin family farm. In the heart of Seine-Maritime, our seamstresses work with dedication, surrounded by fields of Normandy flax.
The linen we use for our duvet covers is traditionally grown in Normandy. Our local partner, Terre de Lin, then takes over, harvesting it with respect for the environment.
The spinning stage takes place in Europe, as there are currently no linen spinning mills in France. Once transformed, the linen returns to our workshops to be sewn to order. Each Embrin duvet cover is unique, ensuring a high-quality French product.
Our linen curtains
Why choose natural linen curtains?
Embrin is the specialist in Norman linen. This remarkable plant has been used for generations for its many benefits, as well as its natural elegance.
Did you know? Unlike cotton, linen requires very few resources and little water to grow in Normandy’s fields. It is therefore an eco-friendly plant to favour if you are looking for a lifestyle in harmony with nature.
If you or anyone in your household suffers from allergies, linen is naturally antibacterial. Hypoallergenic, all our Embrin linen curtains have been awarded Oeko-Tex certification. You can enjoy beautiful curtains with a unique crumpled look, while caring for your health and the planet.
To demonstrate the quality of our Norman craftsmanship, we offer to send you free samples of our linen curtains. Which shades will you choose?
Are linen curtains blackout?
The blackout level of your linen curtains generally depends on their weight. If you already have blackout shutters and your room is already well insulated, you can opt for a lightweight linen voile with a weight of 125 g/m². Would you like to have curtains in a bedroom to block out light, cold, and also surrounding noise? In that case, choose a weight of around 800 g/m².
All our Embrin curtains have a weight of approximately 310 g/m². In other words, they let the light through without affecting the temperature of your room. However, you can choose a more or less substantial lining.
Which lining should you choose for natural linen curtains?
It is the lining of your Embrin curtains that determines their blackout and insulating properties.
Blackout linings are particularly suitable for bedrooms. Satinette linings, on the other hand, are the ideal choice for a living room or dining room with double glazing. With our Nacre natural linen curtains, for example, your living space benefits from plenty of sunlight. You can also choose to select no lining. However, please note: your linen curtains will be more likely to lose their lovely colour over the years.
How to wash natural linen curtains?
You can wash your linen curtains dry or at a cold temperature. We recommend machine washing on a cold cycle, using a gentle and environmentally friendly detergent. Take care not to exceed 30°C and ideally choose a spin speed of no more than 400 rpm. Rather than using a tumble dryer, it is preferable to air dry your washed linen curtains.
You can also wash your linen curtains by hand. Simply soak them in a basin of lukewarm soapy water. Gently rub the curtains, drain them without wringing the fibres, and allow them to dry outdoors.
Do I need to iron washed linen curtains?
Not necessarily! Washed linen has a lovely crumpled appearance, instantly recognisable. Would you prefer curtains without creases? You can also smooth out your linen curtains by using your tumble dryer on a low temperature, selecting a cool cycle.
Then, you can:
- either hang them up straight away and let the creases fall out,
- or iron them while the fabric is still slightly damp.
They will finish drying once they are hung.
What width should you choose for linen curtains?
It all depends on the number of panels you plan to install on your window. With one or two panels, the total width of your linen curtains will be approximately twice the width of the pole. In general, the pole extends 20 centimetres beyond each side of your window.
The width we use for Embrin curtains is between 1.6 and 2 centimetres, taking the pleats into account. This width is, of course, adjusted according to the finish you choose (eyelets, single or double pleats, or flat pleats).
What height should you choose for linen curtains?
In most homes, the curtain pole is usually fixed about 5 centimetres above the window. For a perfect and straight drop, it is best to choose a linen curtain that stops 1 centimetre above the floor. For a more modern drop, leaving a margin of 5 to 10 centimetres works perfectly well.
Are there made-to-measure curtains in natural linen?
Yes! Because every interior is unique, Embrin offers you an online configurator for personalised linen curtains. The process is very simple and will only take a few minutes.
- You will start by selecting the colour of your choice from over 15 shades: ivory white linen curtains, cinnamon, khaki, or even chocolate…
- Next comes the choice of side dimensions, meaning the width of your pole and the number of curtains you would like.
- Then, you can determine the height of your curtain, as well as the type of drop (breaking or just touching the floor).
- After that, you will need to choose your curtain heading. There are 10 types available: antique copper eyelets, nickel eyelets, pinch pleats, or hidden tabs on a pole… Once again, you are spoilt for choice.
- Finally, you can choose the type of lining for your linen curtains. We offer a light sateen lining and a blackout lining with the highest insulating power. You can also choose linen curtains without lining.
Which sofa should you choose with natural linen curtains?
Did you know? Embrin also offers linen sofas, as well as armchairs. They feature the same elegantly crumpled look, perfect for a beautifully harmonious interior decor. What’s more, they are particularly comfortable and will accompany you for many years to come.
Available in several colours, they pair perfectly with our 100% washed linen curtains. Are you considering beige linen curtains? You can choose a sofa or armchair in the same light shade, or opt for a brighter blue or red to create a contrasting effect.
Which colour should you choose for washed linen curtains?
Attractive curtains do more than simply shield you from light or prying eyes: they complete the decoration of your room, depending on the colour you choose. That’s why it’s important to make the right choice!
A bright and original colour such as our hop yellow curtains will bring a sunny touch to a living space like a lounge or dining room. To help you drift off to sleep in a bedroom, why not opt for softer shades, such as our mouse grey linen curtains?
Embrin curtains are available in a wide range of colours. In any case, we recommend choosing a shade that complements your existing décor.
Are washed linen curtains environmentally friendly?
Absolutely: Embrin curtains are made from 100% linen, a local plant that requires very little water. Grown without fertiliser, our linen also absorbs a significant amount of CO2. It is then harvested mechanically, without the use of chemicals. To ensure nothing is wasted, every part of the linen plant is used in the making of Embrin items.
All our linen curtains are hand-sewn to order. Of excellent quality, they will decorate your home for many years, without needing to be replaced over time.
Where are Embrin linen curtains made?
The linen used for our curtain models is responsibly grown near our workshop, in Seine-Maritime. It is harvested mechanically and without any use of chemicals by our long-standing partner Terre de Lin. Our linen curtains are then made in France, with respect for nature and local traditions.
Our quilts
Where should you place a quilt?
The quilt is an extra layer, so there are few rules for using it, as long as it keeps you warm. It can be placed across the entire bed on very cold nights, or folded in half at the foot of the bed for milder nights. It all depends on the sleeper’s preference!
How to choose the right quilt?
We recommend choosing a quilt that covers the entire body rather than a model that only covers the feet. It is preferable to keep the body at a uniform ambient temperature while at rest to support healthy blood circulation, which can sometimes be less effective during sleep.
Therefore, it is best to choose a quilt with the largest possible dimensions, especially if two people are sharing the same bed. Embrin quilts measure 140x200 cm, which matches the size of a standard double mattress. This format allows both sleepers to enjoy a warm environment for restorative sleep.
Embrin fills its quilts with wadding made from 50% merino and 50% polyester. This prevents allergies caused by feathers and down, as well as feathers escaping from the fabric, which can create unpleasant sensations.
How to clean your quilt?
It is not necessary to wash your quilt as often as you wash your sheets. It should be washed after a stain or possibly at the beginning and end of the season. Washing at 30°C or 40°C is perfectly suitable (limit to 30°C for the very first wash), taking care to select a gentle spin cycle beforehand. Finally, Embrin recommends air drying to avoid damaging the linen fibres in the tumble dryer or risking discolouration of the fabric.
How do you remove stains from a linen quilt?
If you have stained your linen quilt, don’t worry! There’s a solution for every type of stain.
-
You can remove a chocolate stain using a mixture of warm vinegar, lemon juice, water, and washing-up liquid.
-
For blood stains, use warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid.
-
If it’s a wine stain, sparkling water is best.
-
For coffee stains, gently rub with stain-removing soap.
-
For tea stains, a mixture of 90° alcohol and white vinegar will do the trick.
-
Lipstick marks will disappear with methylated spirits.
How can I preserve the colour of my quilted bedspread?
To preserve the brightness of its colours, it is recommended to soak the linen quilt in white vinegar, to which a cup of coarse salt has been added, for one to two hours. The quilt can then be given a quick machine wash to remove the smell.

Our valances
How to choose the right height and size for a valance sheet?
For each colour, you choose the size of your bed base as well as its height, measured from the floor to the top, including the slats. This double selection ensures a product that fits the exact dimensions of your bed perfectly.
How is the bed base valance installed?
The linen valance fits directly over the bed base, like an enveloping cover, with no ties or fastening system to install. Simply slip it on to fully cover the bed base.
What sizes of valance do you offer?
We offer all standard sizes, from single beds to king size double beds, to cover all mattress base dimensions available.
Is linen really an eco-friendly material?
Yes: linen requires neither irrigation nor GMOs, it is grown in Normandy and then processed mechanically, without harmful chemicals. Our linen is Oeko-Tex certified, ensuring safety for both your skin and the environment.
Is linen more durable than cotton, gauze or satin?
Yes: linen is a naturally stronger fabric than cotton, gauze or satin, with a much longer lifespan. The more you wash it, the softer the fibre becomes, without ever losing its structure.
Where are Embrin valances made?
Our valances are handmade in the farm workshop, in the heart of Seine-Maritime, using linen grown in Normandy.
