French craftsmanship, tradition & quality
Like our fitted sheet or pillowcase models, your washed linen sheet is made in France using a traditional method.
- Our flax seeds are sown in the fields of Normandy, always respecting the surrounding nature.
- Once the flowers have faded, we harvest the flax mechanically and leave it to rett in the field.
- We collect the flax through our French partner (from Normandy itself), “Terre de Lin”.
- This partner scutches the flax, keeping only the longest fibres, known as “filasses”.
- These fibres are then combed, stretched and twisted in warm water to create a strong yet supple linen yarn.
- This yarn is then woven in an eco-responsible way to become your finished product, with great attention to detail throughout.
Linen: an ecological fibre
Linen sheets are eco-responsible, much more so than cotton! First, the plant requires little water, unlike cotton, and even less fertiliser or GMOs. Flax produces very little waste. The long fibres, shives and tow all have their uses!
We have been awarded the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label for our linen sheets, as well as our duvet covers and all our bed linen in general. In short: no harmful substances are used in the making of your washed linen sheet. What’s more, this fabric is naturally absorbent and beautifully enhances colours: we don’t need to use much dye. White, caramel, pink, terracotta, beige, natural, khaki... The shades remain vibrant and even, whatever happens.
A French sheet, soft & durable
When it comes to softness, nothing compares to a linen sheet. Comfort comes first! This pleasant sensation increases over time: the more you wash your linen sheet, the softer it becomes! During its making, it has already been washed and softened several times, a true mark of quality.
So, machine washing does not wear out your washed linen sheet—quite the opposite. It also won’t cause pilling or fading! Did you know that linen is also thermoregulating, anti-allergenic and can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture? The list of its qualities is long, promising you restful nights in a wonderfully cosy bed!
