Our Linen Throws

The washed linen throw can serve as a bedspread, a sofa throw, a blanket or even a bed runner. Exceptionally versatile, it can also be used simply as a decorative accent! It offers many advantages: beyond the authentic, rustic style it brings to your home, a linen throw is eco-friendly, durable, and gentle on the skin. To discover all the benefits it can offer, read on below.

A fabric that cares for nature

Your linen throw has required very few resources to reach your bed or sofa. In fact, linen needs little water to grow and is not demanding in terms of pesticides or fertilisers. Linen thrives in temperate climates, especially in Normandy!

This washed linen throw could also be described as “zero waste”: no part of the plant is discarded, as every part is used to make fabrics, as well as boards, furniture, or even composite materials.

Finally, linen is transformed into fabric in an entirely mechanical process: no chemicals are used, just a few machines combined with human expertise. As for the dyeing, linen’s absorbent fibres require very little product to achieve beautiful, deep, and even colours, enhancing the décor of your bed or sofa.

Unmistakable style and character

Linen has been used since Ancient Egyptian times, spanning the ages and serving many purposes. Until the nineteenth century, it was the most widely used fabric in Europe! The linen throw is therefore timeless and never seems to go out of fashion. What’s more, it is a fine and noble fabric: the Bayeux Tapestry is a perfect example!

The linen throw brings a “vintage” and authentic touch to your interior décor. It can dress up a sofa whose design no longer appeals to you, without the need to replace it. It can also add plenty of charm to your bedroom as a bed cover. It’s a fabric with real character that never goes unnoticed!

Many benefits for your skin

Washed linen is a antibacterial and hypoallergenic fabric. You can comfortably drift off on your sofa or in bed wrapped in your throw, without itchy skin or the urge to sneeze! As it dries very quickly and features an open weave, linen does not provide a hospitable environment for bacteria or dust mites.

Moreover, this fabric can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture, such as perspiration. Even in hot weather, you’ll stay dry whatever the circumstances! It’s also a thermoregulating fabric that keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer.

Finally, this washed linen throw offers you surprising softness. Contrary to popular belief, linen is not rough or unpleasant to the touch: it is a very soft and comfortable material you’ll love to snuggle up in! To achieve this, the fabric has been washed and softened many times to become increasingly gentle, hence the name “washed linen”!

A washed linen throw designed to last!

To make this linen throw, we have selected only the finest long fibres (also known as tow). They have been carefully combed and then wet-spun with warm water to soften them. This ensures that the linen holds its shape better over time. It is, in fact, one of the most naturally durable plant fibres!

All our linen throws are made in France or the European Union following a rigorous process, using only quality fabric and adhering to strict ethical standards. That’s why they have all been awarded the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and Masters of Linen labels.
