Why choose a linen apron?
This apron is made from 100% washed linen: beyond its modern yet authentic look, this fabric offers many advantages:
An exceptionally hard-wearing apron
Linen aprons are garments that are extremely slow to wear out. The plant fibres that make up linen are among the strongest found in nature. You can move freely—it won’t lose its shape or tear! It never loses its elegance over time; in fact, the longer you have it, the stronger its fibres become!
Once wet, linen becomes even more supple and resilient: don’t be afraid to garden in the rain or spill water on your linen apron while cooking—it won’t be damaged. Linen can absorb nearly 20% of its weight in water, so it will protect your clothes while becoming even sturdier! This material is also highly resistant to stains, as its fibres do not absorb them.
In short, it’s the ideal kitchen linen for working with complete peace of mind. After use, a linen apron is very easy to clean: simply pop it in the washing machine at 40°C, then spin gently or leave it to air dry. For greater longevity, we recommend the latter. In any case, linen does not deteriorate even after many washes.
A softness that increases over time
Contrary to popular belief, linen is not a dry or rough fabric: it is soft and very pleasant to wear! Even better, this softness increases over the years. The more you wash your linen apron, the softer it becomes. It’s a product that develops a beautiful patina over time without ever wearing out, making it the perfect material for quality table linen.
There’s a reason it’s called washed linen: it has already been washed and softened several times during its making, so it’s as soft as possible when you wear it. You’ll love doing your chores, cleaning, cooking, or even DIY!
A fibre that cares for nature
This Japanese linen apron is eco-friendly: no harmful chemicals have been used in its making. It carries the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, meaning it is safe for both you and the environment. It is gentle on your skin and is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial!
Linen is not demanding to grow: it needs little water, a temperate climate, minimal fertiliser, and no GMOs… It requires very few resources to produce its long fibres and those much-loved little blue flowers. What’s more, it generates almost no waste, as every part of the plant is used in various applications. Linen fibres are also highly absorbent. As a result, linen table linen absorbs the natural pigments in dye far more effectively than traditional fabrics, for a result that is rich in colour.
To complement your Japanese linen apron, why not take a look at our linen tea towels or our table linen in general!
