This method only works if you have a tape measure to hand, or if you know your table's dimensions by heart. The other way is to calculate your tablecloth size based on the number of guests your table can seat. As a rule of thumb, allow for at least 60 cm width per place setting.
As for the drop, the choice is yours. Allowing a lot of fabric to hang over creates a skirted effect. On the other hand, a tablecloth that's too short may look too small... The key is to find the right balance.
What size tablecloth for a rectangular table?
The rectangular table has become a popular choice in dining rooms in recent years. It is also practical: a rectangular table can be placed in the centre or in a corner of the room. Paired with a lovely linen tablecloth, it works perfectly!
- For a table designed for 6 to 8 guests, choose a tablecloth measuring 175 x 250 cm.
- For a table for 8 to 10 guests, a tablecloth of 175 x 350 cm will be just right.
