The Véloroute du Lin: a splendid journey between land and sea
Cultivated since the 13th century, linen is part of the Normandy heritage. To honour this noble and artisanal material, the Pays de Caux has created the Véloroute du Lin: an 80 km route between Dieppe and Fécamp. It’s a truly beautiful setting: ready your handlebars and set off!
A family-friendly tourist route through the fields
This route was mapped out alongside the Véloroute du Littoral. Less challenging, it is better suited to families. Its layout was completed in several stages and was finished in May 2018. With secured intersections, this route comprises 5 sections:
- Pourville-sur-Mer - Petit-Appeville: 3 km running alongside the RD 153;
- Petit-Appeville
- Offranville: a 5 km stretch on the former railway line;
- Offranville to Saint-Pierre-le-Viger: 18 km developed on the old railway line;
- Saint-Pierre-le-Viger to Saint-Vaast-Dieppedalle: no greenway for this section, which follows low-traffic roads for 18 km;
- Saint-Vaast-Dieppedalle to Fécamp: 30 km along the old railway line.

The Véloroute has been mapped out along pre-existing paths, which can now be enjoyed on foot, by bike, on rollerblades, and so on, and are also accessible to people with reduced mobility. Located in the very heart of the Pays de Caux, it offers stunning views over the linen fields. There are also 12 picnic areas at your disposal, along with 4 car parks. And for added safety, specific features have been installed, such as barriers, signage, and road markings. You can therefore enjoy a safe family outing!
An original way to discover Normandy’s linen heritage and nature
This route between land and sea was designed to highlight the natural heritage of Seine-Maritime and the culture of linen. Every place along the way has a connection to this Norman tradition. And even if some stretches are without linen fields, other natural features are showcased, such as the beach (at Pourville-sur-Mer, for example). By following this Véloroute, you set off to discover this magnificent herbaceous plant. It’s a fun way to explore, while also enjoying some physical activity!
