Are linen curtains blackout?

The blackout level of your linen curtains generally depends on their weight. If you already have blackout shutters and your room is already well insulated, you can opt for a lightweight linen voile with a weight of 125 g/m². Would you like to have curtains in a bedroom to block out light , cold , and also surrounding noise ? In that case, choose a weight of around 800 g/m². All our Embrin curtains have a weight of approximately 310 g/m² . In other words, they let the light through without affecting the temperature of your room. However, you can choose a more or less substantial lining.

Which lining should you choose for natural linen curtains?

It is the lining of your Embrin curtains that determines their blackout and insulating properties . Blackout linings are particularly suitable for bedrooms. Satinette linings , on the other hand, are the ideal choice for a living room or dining room with double glazing. With our Nacre natural linen curtains , for example, your living space benefits from plenty of sunlight. You can also choose to select no lining . However, please note: your linen curtains will be more likely to lose their lovely colour over the years.

How to wash natural linen curtains?

You can wash your linen curtains dry or at a cold temperature . We recommend machine washing on a cold cycle, using a gentle and environmentally friendly detergent . Take care not to exceed 30°C and ideally choose a spin speed of no more than 400 rpm. Rather than using a tumble dryer, it is preferable to air dry your washed linen curtains. You can also wash your linen curtains by hand . Simply soak them in a basin of lukewarm soapy water. Gently rub the curtains, drain them without wringing the fibres, and allow them to dry outdoors .

Do I need to iron washed linen curtains?

Not necessarily! Washed linen has a lovely crumpled appearance, instantly recognisable. Would you prefer curtains without creases ? You can also smooth out your linen curtains by using your tumble dryer on a low temperature , selecting a cool cycle. Then, you can: either hang them up straight away and let the creases fall out, or iron them while the fabric is still slightly damp . They will finish drying once they are hung.

What width should you choose for linen curtains?

It all depends on the number of panels you plan to install on your window. With one or two panels, the total width of your linen curtains will be approximately twice the width of the pole . In general, the pole extends 20 centimetres beyond each side of your window. The width we use for Embrin curtains is between 1.6 and 2 centimetres , taking the pleats into account. This width is, of course, adjusted according to the finish you choose (eyelets, single or double pleats, or flat pleats).

What height should you choose for linen curtains?

In most homes, the curtain pole is usually fixed about 5 centimetres above the window . For a perfect and straight drop , it is best to choose a linen curtain that stops 1 centimetre above the floor. For a more modern drop , leaving a margin of 5 to 10 centimetres works perfectly well.

Are there made-to-measure curtains in natural linen?

Yes! Because every interior is unique, Embrin offers you an online configurator for personalised linen curtains . The process is very simple and will only take a few minutes. You will start by selecting the colour of your choice from over 15 shades: ivory white linen curtains, cinnamon, khaki, or even chocolate… Next comes the choice of side dimensions , meaning the width of your pole and the number of curtains you would like. Then, you can determine the height of your curtain , as well as the type of drop (breaking or just touching the floor). After that, you will need to choose your curtain heading . There are 10 types available: antique copper eyelets, nickel eyelets, pinch pleats, or hidden tabs on a pole… Once again, you are spoilt for choice. Finally, you can choose the type of lining for your linen curtains. We offer a light sateen lining and a blackout lining with the highest insulating power. You can also choose linen curtains without lining.

Which sofa should you choose with natural linen curtains?

Which colour should you choose for washed linen curtains?

Are washed linen curtains environmentally friendly?

Absolutely: Embrin curtains are made from 100% linen, a local plant that requires very little water. Grown without fertiliser , our linen also absorbs a significant amount of CO2. It is then harvested mechanically, without the use of chemicals. To ensure nothing is wasted, every part of the linen plant is used in the making of Embrin items. All our linen curtains are hand-sewn to order. Of excellent quality, they will decorate your home for many years, without needing to be replaced over time.

Where are Embrin linen curtains made?

The linen used for our curtain models is responsibly grown near our workshop, in Seine-Maritime . It is harvested mechanically and without any use of chemicals by our long-standing partner Terre de Lin . Our linen curtains are then made in France , with respect for nature and local traditions.

This grey is inspired by the famous pebbles of our Normandy beaches: a soft, subtle shade, reminiscent of the calming hues of stones smoothed by the sea waves. Our linen curtains are made from pure washed linen, 310g/m², filtering the light without blocking it out.

Depuis + d'un an nous utilisons les produits Embrin, serviette de bain, taie d'oreiller, drap housse, housse de couette, serviette de table. La qualité des produits est vraiment appréciable. Draps en lin cultivé, filé, tissé et cousu dans un périmètre restreint. Tissu épais, solide et de belle couleur qu’on reçoit très joliment emballé avec le nom de la couturière pour encore plus de personnalisation et de traçabilité. Une entreprise rare mais si précieuse aujourd’hui.

Je prends enfin le temps de remercier Hélène et les couturières de la ferme qui ont réussi à fabriquer et m’envoyer en un temps record 3 magnifiques nappes en lin brut pour notre table de mariage! Une fabrication française à l’excellent rapport qualité /prix, qui peut être fière d’elle pour sa grande qualité de lin. Sans oublier la conception sur mesure, la gentillesse et l’écoute afin de trouver une solution en période de vacances ! Bref, je recommande vivement!

Nous sommes fidèles depuis plusieurs années. Dormir dans du lin est vraiment des plus agréable. Draps papillons, housses de couette, taies d'oreiller tout est parfait et leur tissage de lin ne s'use pas comme les draps courants du commerce. En plus l'accueil est chaleureux, dommage qu'ils soient si loin de chez nous pour leur rendre visite.
