Switching Your Bedroom to Summer Mode
To infuse your bedroom with a summery atmosphere, it’s essential to focus on elements that evoke freshness, lightness, and nature.
Minimalist and bright, your bedroom becomes an invitation to relax, escape, and indulge in endless naps… Unsure how to rearrange your bedroom for the arrival of the warmer months? Embrin offers a few easy tips to help you switch your bedroom—and even your whole home—into summer mode.
Preparing your bedroom for summer
The first step: decluttering! In a summer bedroom, the mood is minimalist.
Take advantage of the warmer weather to eliminate the superfluous: cushions, ornaments, and duvets are packed away in the attic.
- Your bedside table should also be kept clear: unfinished novels and cough syrups for chilly winter nights can be put away until next autumn.
- This is also the perfect time to rearrange your furniture: the bed can be placed facing a window to enjoy the breeze on hot summer nights and take in the view of your garden.
Ensure your bedroom benefits from plenty of natural light by lightening the window dressings and using mirrors to reflect daylight. A well-lit room feels more spacious and inviting.
Essential accessories to keep cool
Here are our four must-have accessories to refresh the air in your bedroom:
- A fan: ideal for drifting off on sweltering nights and for afternoon naps.
- A mist spray: used alongside the fan, it cools adults. For children who need to do without the fan, it’s also very handy.
- An insulated bottle: to keep your water cool throughout the night.
- A bottle of citronella essential oil: to keep mosquitoes at bay.
Incorporate decorative objects that evoke summer in your bedroom, such as seashells, wicker baskets, or cushions with tropical patterns. These elements enhance the summery feel of the room. Play with different materials—the combination of wood and linen creates a perfectly summery, light style that pairs beautifully with the season’s pale shades.
Decoration that breathes
Don’t hesitate to favour lightweight decorative elements, not prone to dust mite proliferation.
- Curtains: linen curtains are the healthiest choice regarding dust mites, unlike velvet curtains, for example, which are real breeding grounds for bacteria.
- Bed sheets: now is the perfect time to swap out heavy blankets for a linen set, with thermoregulating properties—ideal at bedtime to lower your body temperature and help you drift off to sleep, even during heatwaves.
Opt for soft shades such as white, beige, sky blue, or pastel green. These colours create a sense of freshness and space, perfect for summer.
For your bed, choose linen bedding sets in gentle, summery tones. Embrin specialises in linen bed linen and offers sheets, duvet covers, valances, and more.
On the aesthetic side, materials such as cane, seagrass, or rattan are ideal for a seaside feel. For fabrics, favour materials like linen or cotton for your bedding and curtains. These textiles allow for better air circulation and feel wonderfully pleasant on warm summer nights.
