EMBRIN welcomes the programme "Histoire de se balader"
For the filming of his programme "Histoire de se balader", Vincent Chatelain went to meet the key players in Normandy’s flax industry. The documentary, entitled "La Vallée du Lin", was broadcast on France 3 in April 2019.

From field to flax fibre
Vincent Chatelain first visited a farmer in the Dieppe area of Seine-Maritime. Filmed in July, the farmer was in the middle of pulling up his flax. He provides technical explanations about the production of textile flax and its many eco-friendly properties.
The team then visited the agricultural cooperative Terre de Lin, our partner. Here, you’ll discover the scutching process—that is, how the fibre is extracted from the plant. You’ll also learn about all the possible uses for flax, because with flax, nothing is wasted, everything is transformed. Flax tow, shives, scutched flax... all these terms will soon hold no secrets for you!
Laurent Cazenave will also introduce you to the new applications for flax, namely composite materials. Skateboards, snowboards, helmets, speakers... flax fibre reveals many qualities for the design of these sports products.
Soaps made with flaxseed oil
There is another species of flax, grown for its oil: oilseed flax. The France 3 team went to meet Peggy DESJARDINS, founder of Savons d’Ici, a traditional artisan soap maker in Normandy. Peggy uses flaxseed oil in some of her soaps. She explains why in the documentary, and takes you through the various stages of making an artisan soap.

Finally, the documentary ends with Vincent Chatelain’s visit to our family farm. It is here, in the heart of our family flax fields, that the Embrin brand was born. A tour of the farm, a visit to the showroom where our home linen collections are displayed, and an explanation of our journey are all on the agenda.
