Carbon neutrality: ecology right through to delivery!
At Embrin, ecology is second nature. From the cultivation of raw materials to the moment your parcel arrives, your linen homeware creator is constantly striving to protect the environment.
Thanks to Colissimo, its delivery partner, Embrin avoided emitting 0.51 tonnes of CO2 in 2019 and receives an annual carbon neutrality certificate, recording the number of parcels shipped and the equivalent tonnes of carbon saved.
Colissimo: responsible deliveries
Since 2007, Colissimo has placed sustainable development at the heart of its business. This is precisely why Embrin chose this partner! This ecological approach touches every aspect of delivery. To begin with, the parcel boxes are made from recycled materials. The adhesives and inks used are now far more environmentally friendly than before.
Colissimo also works to optimise the loading of its vehicles, transports in bulk, and uses double-decker lorries, which are much larger than previous models. In this way, up to three times as many parcels as before can be delivered in a single journey.
Finally, La Poste trains its drivers and postal workers in eco-driving. Since this measure was introduced, 4 million litres of diesel and 10,000 tonnes of CO2 have been saved. The company also uses 30,000 electric or natural gas vehicles, which help to reduce the emission of fine particles and nitrogen oxide.
100% offset emissions
Despite all the measures in place, the transport of goods can never be entirely neutral. For this reason, La Poste ensures it offsets its emissions by funding projects around the world. The result? More than 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 have already been offset.
Through these projects, La Poste is committed to preserving biodiversity, as well as creating jobs and improving the living conditions and environment of local communities.
For example, in Kenya, the company funds the Kasigau project, which aims to combat the destruction of forests and their resources caused by poachers and illegal charcoal production. It is also involved in the development of the Lifestraw project, which seeks to guarantee access to safe drinking water for communities in the north-west of the country.
